The music in Yucatan took its most important time at the beginning of the last century, influenced by european styles as for cuban, including the "Guaracha", "Bolero" and dance, and colombian influence with the "bambuco.

So, the Yucatecan music is the mixture of treats from different cultures joined together by the personality of the "mestizos".

Some of the most remarkable compositors of the Yucatan "Trova" are Cirilo Baqueiro (Chan Cil) Fermin Pastrana (Huay Cuc) and Antonio Hoil. On a recent generation, we have Ricardo Palmerin, "Guty" Cardenas and Pepe Dominguez. Our destacated compositors nowdays are Pastor Cervera and Sergio Esquivel.

It is common to find some trios on the Main Square at night. They will play for you some of the most beautiful trova songs for a fee.
