4 questions for anyone who lives in mexico or has been there recently?

I’m traveling to Mexico next month (Guadalajara, and somewhere either in the Yucatan peninsula or Veracruz) to do some consulting work for about 10 days. My group is free to roam as we please, and we will be staying in hotels. Before I go, i’d like to get some general information of the country so that my work might be more effective. Anyone who lives in Mexico or is fairly current on the country would be very helpful. Please answer these questions as if you were IN Mexico.
Here is my list of questions:
1) What or who is popular in Mexico, and why?
2) What activities do you do in your free time? What do the working class, teenagers, and families do in their free time? How often do they do these activities? Would you like to do more activities? What do individuals do outdoors for recreation (grilling, futbol games, etc)?
3) Where do you shop the most (product does not matter)?
4) What outdoor products are popular in other countries, but not Mexico?

These questions do not require lengthy answers, but if you would like to explain, feel free. I need these answers for a meeting this evening.

1) If by popular you mean media then Ranchera and Norteno music is very popular, the last time I was there the most popular song was "El Mechon" that song was everywhere, in every plaza party the band would play it (copyright laws are not as strict over there). But that was in 2008, and right now some other song might be very popular.
2) As a traveler there wasn’t much to do since I stayed in a small Mexican town a few hours away from Guadalajara, but there you can play arcade games in the corner stores, look at different kinds of animals that happen to live there (spiders, lizards, birds, beetles etc.), and go to the plaza at night or whenever you want there they usually have dances, carnival games, small roller coaster rides, and a lot of good food. There is usually a party at the plaza on saint days, usually the town’s church’s saint day. Teenagers and families go to these parties. For recreation soccer is always a favorite sport.
3. You can usually go shopping at the nearest larger city, or these giant stores in Guadalara, Jalisco, Mexico. However each sunday in certain towns/cities there is something called a Tiangis, and a tiangis is basically a large outdoor market where people can sell anything like food, clothing, dvds, bootleg dvds, pets, drinks, fruits, cds, bootleg cds, toys, jewelry, belts, and almost anything. If you are strict in copyright laws a tiangis may not be the right place for you, however there are really no copyright laws in Mexico so you wont get in any trouble for it. If you just want to get something like milk, a snack, or soda then you can just go to the nearest corner store.
